I feel like I understand you so much better now.
My darling wife said this to me. It wasn’t after a particularly invigorating hike or majestic stroll through Central Park. It wasn’t by candle light or moon light or dawn’s early light.
Nope. She said this to me after we had watched Anchorman.
I took it as a compliment. As well as an accepted reality.
If I were to estimate, I’d say I’ve seen Anchorman roughly 3,469 times. From start to finish. If you were to include times when I’ve only watched parts, a scene here or there, then that number would easily be above 5,000. I have no clue when I first saw the movie. It wasn’t in theaters. Unlike a movie like Dazed and Confused, a movie that I could tell you exactly when and where I saw it for the first time, Anchorman just appeared in my life like facial hair or hair on my feet.
Endless quotes. Jokes to be repeated ad nausea. Even more quotes. It was the movie that me realize that you need to watch a Will Ferrell movie more than once to really appreciate it and find the humor in it. This was something that proved true with movies like Step Brothers and The Other Guys, two movies I thought were terrible the first time, but now deem day stoppers if I come across them while flipping through channels.
So now comes the long-awaited sequel for Anchorman, set to be released this December. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues has the Channel 4 News Team back together, in what looks like the late 70’s or early 80’s. Two “trailers” had already be released, but this latest one is the first one with actual footage from the film and hints at what the story might be.
Baxter! Kristen Wiig! Apparently a lot more awesome people!
Ron in a sombrero!
Paul Rudd doing whatever this is:
I am very excited.
Best Lines from the Trailer:
“Their legend became a whisper told by the trees.”
“I like the parts of your face that are covered in skin.”
“I don’t read Jet magazine or Jeri Curl Daily…I’m breaking down the barriers of race by assimilation. And on that note, which one of you convicts with the longest record can pass me the mashed potatoes?”
Only a minute and change and it looks amazing.
Yup. Amazing.
And this trailer doesn’t even include this bit of awesome…
Again, I’m really excited.
