Last night When the Garden was Eden premiered on ESPN. It’s the latest 30 for 30 documentary the network does and focuses on the 1970’s Knicks and Madison Square Garden.
Full Disclosure: I was working last night and haven’t actually seen the doc yet. There was one television present where I was last night. It was playing women’s soccer, Jamaica versus Mexico. This still doesn’t make any sense to me.
Update: I did see the doc. I loved the doc. I love the Celtics, but it made me only slightly not like the Knicks a little less.
But hey now, I fully intend to watch When the Garden was Eden as soon as possible. I’ll watch any of the 30 for 30’s– my two favorites being Four Days in October and The Two Escobars. I have no doubt that When the Garden was Eden will be the latest great doc the series has produced.
In the meantime however, there is the Spotify playlist of the soundtrack to the doc. It’s legit- chalk full of delicious grooves from bands & acts such as the Budos Band, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Joe Tex, Menahan Street Band and more. It’s essentially the Daptone Records’ All Star team flexing it’s muscles.
It’s raining today. My dog spent the entire night in the bathroom, also known as her panic room. I could use another cup of coffee or three.
This playlist is exactly what’s needed on a day like today.
Props to this dude, Dean Collins, for putting it together.
