Shimmy Shimmy Ya: the Bring On Summer edition

tumblr_inline_mrfvh9ZWp71qz4rgpMemorial Day Weekend has come and gone. Hello Summer and goodbye Winter. Winter you sucked. In every way possible.

Good riddance.

Now it’s onto summer and grilled turkey burgers, sun tans and cold summer beers. Open windows, green grass, flip flops.

Giddy Up, indeed.

Quick Dispatch from the Shore:

We saw the B Street Band from this weekend. They’re a Springsteen tribute band- according to them, they are the original tribute band. The band’s “Bruce” in the right light and maybe viewed through squinty eyes could even be mistaken for Bruce. I don’t see this as a coincidence.

Tribute bands are an interesting breed- making a career by being someone else’s career. Chuck Klosterman wrote the definite account of life in a tribute band, “The Pretenders.” It’s endlessly interesting and entertaining.  And hey, like the B Street Band on “The Facebook.” They really, really, really want you too.

Quote of the Day:

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.” – Milan Kundera

Thanks for the memories, Dugan,

And a playlist to help usher in summer…

Because moving on can be tough.
