Monday Morning Listening: Gary Clark Jr’s New Mixtape

Gary-Clark-Jr-guitar-centerWelcome to Monday, welcome to this week. Let’s all hope this week is sans racist remarks. Fingers crossed. Spring is coming, summer is coming. Here’s some fun music to celebrate.

America’s resident upcoming guitar god, Gary Clark Jr., recently released the Blak and Blu Mixtape. It’s a collection of remixes and revamps of songs from his 2012 breakthrough album, Blak and Blu. The mixtape features some Big Krit and Robert Glasper remixes, as well as a version of “Bright Lights” with help from Talib Kweli.

The Blak and Blu Mixtape certainly doesn’t surpass the original album in quality, but instead serves as a nice compliment or side dish to the album.

You can listen to the album HERE. It’s available for download HERE. And then you can watch that funny Beygency skit from this week’s Saturday Night Live HERE.
